FROM OUR CHAIRMAN

from David R. Curry, Chairperson, CMF Board of Directors

To CMF supporters and friends of contemporary music everywhere,

We have just completed a very ambitious and successful season. Highlights include our continuing Corcoran concert series, our important collaboration with Ensemble Aleph (Paris) and la Maison Française/Embassy of France with concerts and premiers of new works in Paris and Washington, and the very successful production of Roger Reynolds’ Sanctuary at the National Gallery of Art atrium in November.

Looking ahead, an exciting 2008-2009 season is in formation with a special series of concerts in celebration of Elliot Carter’s 100th birthday. Concerts at the National Gallery of Art and the Library of Congress in early December are planned and will include a premiere of new works by VERGE composers Steve Antosca and Jeffrey Mumford. Later, the VERGE Ensemble will be in residence at the prestigious June in Buffalo festival. Please watch for more season details shortly as planning is completed.

As always, CMF depends almost entirely on the generous donations of contemporary music lovers who recognize the quality of the VERGE Ensemble and the importance of CMF programs. We certainly thank you warmly for previous support, and I hope you will support us this season as well.

Please visit our Donations page or contact me if I can help you consider a gift, such as sponsorship of a specific concert, underwriting support for a planned VERGE Ensemble DVD this season, or support for commissioning a new work. You can reach me at 267.251.2305, or email me at david.r.curry at drcurryassociates dot net.

Finally, let me applaud our wonderful VERGE Ensemble led by our Artistic Director Steve Antosca and Executive Director Lina Bahn. Steve and Lina’s tireless work, and the ensemble’s excellence, promises another exciting season of important new music performances. I look forward to greeting you personally at concerts and events this season.

Thank you for your support!

David Curry
