CMF director Steve Antosca has a Master’s degree in Computer Music Composition from The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. He is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Composition at George Mason University. He is Director and composer member of the Contemporary Music Forum, the new music ensemble in residence at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Lina Bahn

A native of Chicago, Lina Bahn finished her degrees at The Juilliard School (BM), University of Michigan (MM), and the Indiana University (DM). Her teachers have included Roland and Almita Vamos, Dorothy DeLay, Paul Kantor, Naoko Tanaka, and Miriam Fried. As a soloist, Ms. Bahn has performed with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, La Orquesta Sinfonica de la Serena (Chile), and the Malaysian National Symphony Orchestra. Ignacio Alcover, born in Barcelona,is a member of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra (Heinz Fricke, music director) and the Washington Opera (Placido Domingo, artistic director). In addition he is artistic director of )musica(aperta. This ensemble creates and performs concerts mixed with theater, movement and multimedia. Its first show Re:new was premiered in Washington with great critical success. As part of the Washington Shakespeare Festival )musica (aperta’s next production: “Six Degrees of Hamlet” and is scheduled for June 2007 to be presented at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington DC. Audrey Andrist

Canadian pianist Audrey Andrist has performed throughout North America and in the Far East. A graduate of the Juilliard School’s elite doctoral program, she is the first prize winner of numerous competitions, including the San Antonio International, Eckhardt-Gramatte, and Juilliard Concerto Competition. She has appeared as soloist with the National Arts Center and CBC Orchestras in Canada, and has performed on some of America’s most prestigious recital series, including the People’s Symphony Concerts in New York, the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, and the Discovery Series in La Jolla. Carole Bean (flute) is currently a member of the National Symphony Orchestra (solo piccolo). She has been a member of the Harrisburg Symphony, Honolulu Symphony, Xalapa Symphony, and Baltimore Symphony (extra), and various chamber groups, including Chamber Music Hawaii and Eclipse Chamber Orchestra. She is the resident flutist of the Contemporary Music Forum. [ more ]

Barry Dove

Barry Dove has had a long and distinguished musical career. He received his Bachelor’s in Music Education, Performer’s Certificate, and Master’s Degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Also there, he earned a first Prize award in the Yale Gordon Concerto Competition. Mr. Dove also attended the University of Ghana in Accra to study West African drumming styles and the University of Havana, Cuba. The Washington Post has described Mr. Dove as having “superhuman dexterity”, “exceptionally virtuosic” and “a marvelous player”. [ more ]

Kathryn Hearden

Lyric soprano Kathryn Hearden completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music, where she was a winner of the Concerto Competition and the Performer’s Certificate. As an advocate of new music, Miss Hearden has premiered dozens of works, including those by composers Robert Morris, Ray Ricker, Judith Shatin, Kamran Ince and John Hilliard, and has served on the board of directors of the Capital Composers Alliance. She sings recent American works with The Contemporary Music Forum at the Corcoran Gallery. [ more ]

Hailed as “brilliant” by the Washington Post, Lura Johnson has appeared in concert throughout the US as a soloist and chamber musician. Praised for her “invention, originality, and marvelous sense of flow,” she has presented recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Washington D.C.’s Phillips Collection. She has both commissioned and premiered works by Jeffrey Mumford, performing them at the Kennedy Center and Washington’s Corcoran Gallery. [ more ]

David Jones (clarinet) joined the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra as Principal Clarinet in 1998. He has also performed extensively with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra as well being a member of the Contemporary Music Forum and a featured artist with the American Chamber Players, and the 20th Century Consort. Jenny Lin

Jenny Lin is one of the most respected young pianists today, admired for her adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence. She continues to receive accolades worldwide as an orchestral soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Her performances have taken her to venues such as Carnegie Recital Hall, Kennedy Center, Miller Theatre, Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum in New York. Jeffrey Mumford

Born in Washington, D.C. in 1955, composer Jeffrey Mumford has received numerous fellowships, including a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation, and grants such as his Meet the Composer grant. His awards include the “Academy Award in Music” from the American Academy of Arts & Letters, and he was also the winner of the inaugural National Black Arts Festival/Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Composition Competition. Mumford’s most notable commissions include those from the Haydn Trio Eisenstadt (Vienna), the Network for New Music, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. [ more ]

Bill Richards, a native of Pottstown, Pa. is an active percussionist in the Washington, DC/Baltimore area. Following graduation from Temple University he joined The United States Army Band in Washington and performed as solo percussionist and section leader for 20 years. He now performs frequently with the Washington National Opera, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Washington Symphonic Brass, as well as the Contemporary Music Forum and other chamber ensembles. Anthony Villa, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, received his M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park where he studied composition under Lawrence Moss and Mark Wilson. His works, written for a variety of instrumental and vocal combinations, including chamber music, works for dance, scores for video productions and compositions incorporating electronic and acoustic instruments, have been performed throughout the Baltimore-Washington area. Tobias Werner

Tobias Werner has been cellist with the Garth Newel Music Center since 1999, and performs more than 50 concerts each year with the Garth Newel Chamber Players. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras in the US, France, Germany, and Romania, and has recorded on the ECM, Darbringhaus & Grimm, Bayer Records, and Orfeo labels. He plays on an 1844 J.F. William Wright

William Wright was for many years a member of the National Symphony Orchestra, in which he played clarinet and E-flat clarinet.
